While there was a decent head wind out of the North, this year was almost perfect for Bike the Drive. Every year cyclists get reminded how amazing the lakeshore is when it’s free of car traffic and we get to enjoy 30 miles of quiet, wide open riding.
I get it, car transport is still an important reality in Chicago, but would it be that bad to put LSD on a road diet and let multi-modal transportation be a priority? With the exception of rush hour, LSD tends to be very underutilized, while the lakefront trail continues to get more crowded and difficult to navigate with so many people using it for different activities.
